Shawver Residence - 3/10 Kimball
Edmonds, Washington

Back to the Northwest Theatre Organ History: Residences page

This instrument was originally from Seattle's Embassy Theatre. After the theatre, it was installed in the Woodland Park Presbyterian Church in 1932. In the mid 1960's, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Shawver installed the instrument in their waterview home in Edmonds.

After Harold's passing, Mrs. Shawver eventually sold the home in 1978 and the owners got a free pipe organ. There have been one or two sales subsequent to the first sale and each time the organ went with the house. The current owner had the instrument completely refurbished in 1995, but it was not generally been accessible to local organ enthusiasts.

In April 2007, the fifth owner of the home donated the Kimball to the Mercer Island-based Pipe Organ Foundation who immediately placed the organ in the hands of Dave Luttinen, who, with the help of Mark Baratta, Tom Blackwell, Carl Dodrill, Russ Evans, Barbara Graham, Clint Meadway, and other friends, crated the organ and removed it to storage.

The organ was stored for seven years, and then acquired by Dave Johnston of Leavenworth WA in 2014.
