Jim Tarling purchased the Vancouver Capitol Theatre Wurlitzer at auction in 1965. Over a period of three months, Jim and friends removed the instrument from the theare and stored it at the home of Jim's father, Ted Tarling.

In 1972 Jim constructed a 1,000 square foot addition to his home and began installation.
